BTQ is proud to announce the appointment of Wei-Chih Hong as the company’s Head of Hardware Engineering. Prof. Hong has been part of the BTQ team since September 2021 as an advisor and is now transitioning from his position of associate professor at Feng Chia University to a full-time role effective immediately. He remains affiliated with the top ranked comprehensive private university in an adjunct professor function. Prof. Hong brings over 30 years of knowledge, relationships, and real-world applications in the nascent field of post-quantum cryptography to table and is tasked with establishing BTQs long-term research and development vision. Prof. Hong had the following comments following his appointment.

I am excited to join BTQ’s talented and energetic R&D team as Head of Hardware Engineering. The team is capable of realizing innovations in both software and hardware. Together with the company’s global partners, I believe we can provide the world of Web3 with sustainable solutions in terms of post-quantum security and energy efficiency."
Wei-Chih Hong received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering and the Ph.D. degree in communications engineering from National Taiwan University, Taipei, in 1996, 1998, and 2010, respectively. From 1999 to 2003, he has worked as an Assistant Researcher with the Telecommunication Laboratories, Chunghwa Telecom. From 2010 to 2014, he conducted postdoctoral researches with Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany, and Academia Sinica, Taiwan. Before joining BTQ, he has been teaching at Feng Chia University for 8 years. His research interests include cryptographic engineering, side channel analysis, and the application of machine learning techniques in information security.
